Project Title
Good Grief
Fiscal Year Awarded
2018
Grant or Program
National Dance Project Production Grant
Grant Amount
$45,000

Everett’s dynamic multimedia dance theater enters an unburdening process: the mind and bodies of individuals after enduring trauma. The artists use cutting edge therapeutic approaches and the power of the arts to explore healing for their own life experiences. Onstage, they dive inward, uncover parts of the self, slip into the unconscious, and look at the body made foreign and disconnected - all in search of a true self. In “Good Grief,” Everett presents a journey of fragmented memories, exiled parts, and the hope that dwells in a thriving imagination. Heart-wrenching stories, comedic moments and immersive video projections, intertwine to create a complex and engrossing image of healing. “Good Grief” will tour with a powerful menu of community engagement opportunities from workshops for youth suffering from trauma to training’s for artists, clinicians and educators. Estimated artist fee: $14,000/performance; $20,000/week.
