Grant or Program
National Dance Project Production Grant
Grant Amount
$45,000

Paramodernities is a unique multidisciplinary project that engages deeply w/ the canon of modern dance in radical, reverent, & subversive ways to spark new ideas, choreographies, & conversations. It is a series of lecture-performances, or dance-experiments, generated through deconstructions of landmark modern choreographies. Paramodernities is performed by a diverse cast of revered dancers alongside contributions by scholars and writers who situate these iconic works within the larger project of Modernism. Exploring foundational tenants of modern discourse — such as sovereignty, race, feminism, & nihilism — Paramodernities includes public discussions as inseparable parts of each installment.
Estimated artist fee: $11,000-$32,000/performance (dependent on number of installments and type of presentation); $17,000-$43,000/week (dependent on number of installments and type of presentation)
