We are tremendously excited to present A Rap on Race by Spectrum Dance Theater as part of the Ordway's Music & Movement Series, and our School Matinee Series, in 2018.

A Rap on Race, an evening-length devised dance/theater work by Donald Byrd and Anna Deavere Smith, centers on a conversation on race between writer James Baldwin and anthropologist Margaret Mead recorded in 1970. Through an investigation of dance, movement, text, and music, A Rap on Race excavates new meaning from this cultural artifact that enlivens the current conversation around racial and cultural equality.
