The Hartford Jazz Society, Inc.

The Hartford Jazz Society will present Blue Salience: For Yusef Lateef, a large-scale work by acclaimed composer, saxophonist, and bandleader Jason Robinson, performed by his 17-piece Janus Orchestra. Inspired by the legacy of NEA Jazz Master Yusef Lateef, the project explores jazz, global musical traditions, and contemporary composition.

The performance, scheduled for May 1, 2027 at The Artists Collective in Hartford, will mark the first appearance of the Janus Orchestra in Connecticut. The program will include a student workshop led by Robinson and ensemble members, as well as performances by student ensembles as opening acts. Presented in partnership with The Artists Collective, this engagement connects performance, education, and community participation while expanding access to innovative, large-scale jazz.
