FirstWorks will present jazz trumpeter and composer Etienne Charles and his ensemble as part of its free Summer Beats concert series in Providence. Charles will perform music from his newest album, Gullah Roots, a journey through Gullah Geechee communities of coastal South Carolina and Georgia, as part of a regional New England tour. The engagement will also include pre-show artist conversations and local community tabling designed to engage audiences and create a welcoming environment.
