Culinary Commons: Eastie is a social practice public art project creating a permanent, community-designed public kitchen and food justice hub in East Boston. Led by local food justice organization, EquiTable Food Systems, the project transforms cooking into a public act of connection, cultural expression, and spatial justice. Through co-design sessions, pop-up kitchen activations, and collaborative workshops, local culinary artists, spoken word poets, storytellers, designers, and cultural practitioners will animate the space with participatory programming. The permanent Culinary Commons site will serve as a free, food-centered third space where residents cook, create, and organize together—preserving traditions, sharing resources, and building collective resilience.
