Sandglass Center for Puppetry and Theater Research, Putney, VT, will present Tanglewood Marionettes’ The Fairy Circus as part of its 2026 Winter Sunshine Series. Featuring more than twenty handcrafted marionettes, The Fairy Circus celebrates turn-of-the-century trick puppetry, a rarely seen art form in contemporary touring performance. The show blends intricate craftsmanship with classical music as marionettes juggle, transform, contort, and soar through the air.

The engagement will include two live performances accompanied by pre-show puppetry demonstrations and post-show Q&A sessions, offering audiences an up-close look at the mechanics and artistry behind the work. A live online discussion for puppetry professionals will further extend the impact of the residency, supporting regional dialogue around sustainable touring practices.
