<p>Sandglass Theater will present Tholpavakoothu: The Shadow Puppet Play of Kerala. The evening will encompass a procession of giant parade-style lantern puppets made by community members and this outdoor shadow puppetry spectacle in the ancient Indian tradition of deerskin puppets lit by coconut oil lamps. This performance will showcase a 12th generation puppeteer in this traditional form, 71 different characters, and over 160 different shadow puppets, in a telling of the Hindu epic, the Ramayana.</p>
