<p>Weathervane Community Arts (WCA) will present Vermont-based musician and educator, John Hughes, as part of our annual World Music Mini-Fest. This free festival will take place in Peskeompskut Park in downtown Turners Falls, MA on June 1, 2025. Hughes, along with his collaborators, will perform a set of music on the kora (a traditional West African harp). Hughes will introduce our intergenerational, diverse audiences to his contemporary approach to West African music, through his performance as well as a free, public educational workshop. This event will also offer the opportunity for Hughes to interact and collaborate with the Festival's other performers, including Juan Carlos Marin (traditional Mexican Son Jarocho music) and Myrtle Street Klezmer (celebratory music of the Ashkenazi Jews) in a fun and educational intercultural, accessible, and inclusive community-based event. </p>
