NCCAkron will support Sole Defined with a Creative Residency for “Zaza: The Big Easy” from August 10-15, 2025. This work showcases African Diasporic Percussive Dance accompanied by immersive sound and media technologies. As part of this Creative Residency, NCCAkron will support the choreographer and dance artists with funds to help subsidize studio time, housing, per diem, and travel expenses. The public facing aspect of the Creative Residency will include a public interview titled Inside the Dancer’s Studio to unpack the creative process behind the work. This conversation between Sole Defined’s Executive / Artistic Director Ryan Johnson and NCCAkron Founding Executive / Artistic Director Christy Bolingbroke will be open to the public and admission-free. The conversation will also be recorded and published as part of NCCAkron’s podcast by the same name as well as on NCCAkron’s YouTube page.
