The Let Out is a late-night public talk show and spatial justice intervention that transforms the streets, sidewalks, and public plazas of Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan into open-air recording studios for Black and Brown queer young adults ages 18–35. Inspired by Claudio Prado’s media experiments in Brazilian nightlife, The Let Out challenges misinformation, cultural erasure, and the privatization of public space by building a people-powered broadcast directly in the nightlife environments where our communities gather, create, and organize. Across the summers of 2026 and 2027, The Let Out will partner with nightlife organizers to host pop-up late-night talk shows just outside or near their events. These activations transform small public plazas, parking lots, courtyards, bus stops, and corners into temporary studios where community members shape the night’s stories.
