It St(ARTS) in the Park (ISITP) is a dance court initiative celebrating Boston's vibrant freestyle dance culture and its deep connections to local neighborhoods. Freestyle dance, a collection of Black traditional dance forms, is a powerful embodiment of resistance, celebration, and storytelling, narrating the history and culture of communities across the U.S. ISITP was birthed in collaboration with the City of Boston, DS4SI, and Illuminus. It's an activation that combines live art-making, performances, and interactive workshops led by local performers. In addition to creative activity stations, we bring in catering from a local chef and facilitate community-led programming culminating in a live screening of For The City, a Boston-based freestyle dance docuseries that highlights local changemakers and their dance journeys as they intersect with their neighborhoods and parks.
