Grant or Program
National Theater Project Creation & Touring Grant
Grant Amount
$30,000

Dee Crosby, a champion boxer taken down in her prime by her own husband, is hell-bent on redemption--no matter the cost. But her heart belongs to Carmen. Spectators for The Wholehearted sit ringside for this “dazzling tour-de-force” (LA Times), equal parts blood pumping revenge tragedy and intimate tribute to lost love.By turns “potent and enigmatic” (San Diego Union Tribune) and “boldly arresting” (Boston Globe), this show by acclaimed co-creators Deborah Stein and Suli Holum (CHIMERA, Under the Radar) uses both groundbreaking technology and original rockabilly songs as it takes audiences on an unsettling ride through the human heart.
