SPACE

In conjunction with the Bates Dance Festival presentation of Yanira Castro's CAST/STAGE/AUTHOR, SPACE is presenting Castro in AUTHOR, a participatory video installation that invites each visitor to interact with the transcribed conversations of 15 performers through a computer text game. The game allows each visitor to construct a poetically mediated stream-of-conscious dialogue between themselves and the project’s performers. In doing so, they activate the video installation, displaying videos of the 15 performers constructing work for video, exploring themes of casting and representation in performance. Visitors walk away with a printed transcript of their interaction.
