Project Title
Skin(s)
Fiscal Year Awarded
2016

Rosy Simas’ new work tackles one of the most important subjects today – Native identity. In collaboration with Native artists and organizations, community arts presenters and galleries, and French composer François Richomme, Skin(s) examines cultural, political, and identity issues that make belonging to a sovereign nation within a larger, “melting pot” culture so complex. Skin(s) is performed within an immersive otherworldly environment of sets, film, text, and sound, and supported by an NPN Creation Fund and created in Chicago, Minneapolis, and San Francisco. Estimated Artist Fee: $9,000/performance, $11,000/week.
