Grant or Program
New Work New England
Grant Amount
$15,000

Hidden will be a live, evening-length contemporary dance work inspired by the story of Holocaust survivor Aaron Elster, who survived at the mercy of a Polish family who hid him in their attic for two years. Hidden is being developed through a highly collaborative creative process that is geared towards creating a resonant and embodied Holocaust education experience for the artists involved in the work. As part of Hidden’s development, Director Rachel Linsky will also be engaging local teenage dancers in an embodied Holocaust education workshop series. Participants will be incorporated into the final section of Hidden to further evoke to audiences the importance of continuing to pass these histories down through generations.
