As a presenter, we plan to present 3 performances of the NYC iteration of Memory Fleet: A Return to Matr between June 11th-13th, 2026 inside New York Live Arts’ 184 seat black box theater.
We will host an interactive discussion around Memory Fleet, a migrating performance and archive that preserves the living memories of eight Black matriarchs of the North and South sides of Houston, TX. Their shared stories will be presented through original sound scores, choreographies, garments, and how the living memories of eight Black matriarchs featured in this work and their interconnected narratives shape these original sound scores, choreographies, and garments throughout the performance, while also exploring the significance of archiving in the context of dance. This event is part of our free STAY LATE CONVERSATION series, offered alongside each production, featuring insightful post-show talks, reflection, and perspective on the works being presented in our spaces.
