In July, 2023 Avery Sharpe will participate in Litchfield Jazz Camp. In addition to his regular duties (see below) he will also be an honored guest on
Litchfield Jazz Fest Opening Night when his protégé, 17-yo pianist Brandon Goldberg will be the headliner. Brandon began his studies with us at age 10 and Avery served as his combo instructor and became his mentor in a relationship that endures today. Avery Sharpe has been an invaluable member of the Litchfield Program for 16 years and inspired many students and younger teaching staff alike.

During his residency, Avery will teach for 2 weeks and perform on our JAZZ AFTER WORK series of free, live and live-streamed community concerts. He will instruct combo performance, bass master classes, individual lessons, theory, composition, and serve as a presenter for the Special Topics program where he will moderate a panel of “living legend” musicians speaking about the history of jazz in America and its African-American roots.
