The project includes the continued research and mounting of a multi-discipline storytelling experience about The Malaga Ship. This ship was built in Brunswick, ME in the 1840s and named after the island that was inhabited by former slaves off of the Maine coast.
The project will involve research and slide projection creation to be displayed during certain parts of the performance. The artist will interact in shadow with these projections. There will be two versions of the completed project: spoken word with movement storytelling presentation that can be told in any venue and a video recording available to distribute to schools and other facilities around the world as a virtual offering.
