Theater in the Park is an evening of free outdoor theater at Mozart Park in the heart of Jamaica Plain. During three weeks in July, Escena Latina Teatro (ELT) will present plays in Spanish and English, with translations via supertitles, and facilitate bilingual workshops about the theater-making process. ELT, a volunteer-run community theatre, was founded in 1992 by a group of young actors from various Latin American countries with the goal to produce affordable quality theatre in Spanish and make it accessible to a diverse audience. ELT has staged over 30 plays in neighborhoods across Boston, New York, and Providence, and has featured the works of local Latino playwrights through free stage readings.
