The Dance Complex

The Dance Complex, Cambridge, MA, will partner with Mechanics’ Hall, Portland, ME, to present Laila J. Franklin’s contemporary dance work BABYBABYBABY. The company will perform the work twice, accompanied by interactive pre-show experiences designed to engage audiences in themes explored in the performance. Using guided prompts and structured participation, the pre-show activities will create an immersive atmosphere that deepens audience connection to the work.

In addition to the performances, Franklin will lead a public workshop examining her creative process and choreographic development. Accessible ticket pricing, large-print programs, and an accessible performance space will support broad community participation. The engagement will foster dialogue, artistic exchange, and expanded access to contemporary dance across both partner communities.
