Cassie Wang

<p><span style="font-size: 14px;">Cassie Wang will begin development of her new choreographic work: a solo, evening-length dance performance with a live, integrated musical score by multi-instrumentalist Mel Hsu. The work will deepen her ongoing study on longing, expanding upon an existing solo involving text and dance. She is interested in confronting uncomfortable truths, a deep reflection on her identity, and longing as a form of time travel—reaching toward the future while tethered to the past. The voice will be utilized as a leading element of exploration, investigating ideas of the mouth as a site of longing and the voice as a bridge from the inner self to the outer world. In preparation for her research, Cassie will take voice lessons with vocalist Desiré Graham to gain comfort with using the voice, learn vocal techniques, and find range in vocal expression.</span></p>
