In connection with an exhibition of artwork by Guyanese-American artist Carl E. Hazlewood, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) presents "Anansi, the Trickster Spider: A West African Folktale", a 45-minute, family-friendly, original production by the Connecticut-based traveling children's theater company, Grumbling Gryphons. The production will take place in the museum's main gallery, surrounded by Hazlewood's drawings, paintings, and site-specific works, which have been influenced by the legend of Anansi. Prior to the performance, several dozen local children, between the ages of six and twelve, will take part in a mask-making and drama workshop offered by the Grumbling Gryphons.
