Borderlands Theater and Teatro Bravo use multiple storytelling mediums to explore the emotional labor and mental health toll on Latinx border communities who act as both the enforced and enforcers of immigration policy. A postcolonial reimagining of the Greek classic, Antigone at the Border, explores age-old questions of membership and belonging through physicality, digital projections, and poetry, set to the traditional waila music of the Tonoho O’ohdam people. Created by indigenous and mestizo artists living and working on their ancestral homelands; the Sonoran Desert.
