Blues to Green

Blues to Green will present Trinidad-born trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Etienne Charles at the free Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival for a featured performance of his Gullah Roots project. Charles and his ensemble will present a full-length set exploring the music and stories of the Gullah Geechee people and their impact on American culture. The engagement will also include a public Jazz & Justice–style conversation with Charles highlighting the history behind Gullah Roots, his creative process, and connections between Caribbean and U.S. African diasporic communities.
