$30,000

CircuStations, a CultureRx response to the loneliness epidemic, brings together groups of youth and elders to make and present art around the theme of ‘feeling right in everyday life.’ Led by Black History in Action, the project takes place around Central Square, Cambridge, where gentrification has displaced a historically Black/Caribbean population, leading to a need for renewed community ties.

Artists, including Jimena Bermejo and Kristen Duffy Young (movement/dance), Hip Hop Transformation (rhythm/voice), and Community Art Center teachers will lead multi-modal storytelling workshops on the theme of belonging for 50 youth and elders across four community spaces, creating short audio/video portraits.

Interactive public presentations using the portraits will include intimate community performances, sound collage by Forbes Graham, an open-air audio booth by Dzidzor and crystal bi, a photo exhibition by Craig Bailey documenting the project, and a digital archive.
