Who decides who belongs in a community? Who decides if you can call a place home? Roots Above Ground, a 45 minute physically integrated dance program making its world premiere at AXIS’ Home Season, will explore the multiple meanings of home. Conceptualized and choreographed by AXIS artistic director and choreographer Marc Brew, the work will delve deep into Marc’s own emotional journey as an immigrant, a disabled gay man, and a dancer - always moving to follow his ambition while longing to belong. Roots Above Ground will tap into our essential human emotional need to be accepted and how the concept of belonging is connected to our perceptions and definitions of home.

Estimated Artist Fee: $26,000/performance; $37,000/week.
