Project Title
Honoring our past and making space for our present and future
Fiscal Year Awarded

Grant or Program
Public Art for Spatial Justice
Grant Amount
$30,000

The project is a series of public artworks created using data (photographs, interviews, written statements, surveys, art) collected from community members at monthly parties hosted by The Arts & Justice Collective. These "House Parties," funded by MassDevelopment, are social, arts and justice-centric events that center the voices and cultural expression of historically-excluded communities on Cape Cod (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, low-income). These process and culminating art pieces will be displayed throughout the TDI district of Hyannis, MA, during the Collective's Arts & Justice Festival 2023 and will represent the rich and vibrant experiences of historically-excluded individuals, experiences which are often under-valued and minimized. We hope to challenge the traditional narrative of Cape Cod through art while developing a deeper sense of community connectedness. www.theartsandjusticecollective.com
