Choreographed by Ananya Chatterjea with an original score by Greg Schutte, Shyamali: Sprouting Words is a 90-minute work that explores how dissent fuels life force and growth, recognizes the courage of women who speak up and talk back to sustain communities against injustice, and celebrates women who refuse to be broken. Activities include public performances, Audience Empowerment Workshops, 15 Gestures of Dissent & Healing Workshops, story circles, open rehearsals, and cultural conversations. Shyamali is scheduled to tour to UtahPresents in Salt Lake City and to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Kahului. Estimated artist fee: $19,000/ performance, $27,000/week.
