The Adams Theater presents "Balan Fanga: Discover the Power of Balafon," featuring virtuosos Balla Kouyaté (Mali) and Mamadou Diabaté (Burkina Faso). On June 5, 2027, the trio performs a historic set harmonizing two distinct West African traditions, historically separated by tuning and scales, through a custom-built instrument. The performance will conclude with an artist Q&A, offering deeper insights into these rhythmic legacies. On June 6, 2027, the artists will lead an immersive community workshop using traditional instruments including the balafon, djembe, and dundun.
