Public Art for Spatial Justice: Artist’s Perspectives + Q&A with NEFA Staff

Public Art for Spatial Justice (PASJ) provides grants of $15,000 to $30,000 to support public artmaking in Massachusetts that helps us see, feel, experience and imagine spatial justice now, while we are still on this journey towards realizing more just futures for our public spaces and public culture.

This virtual info session is designed for folks interested in applying for NEFA’s PASJ opportunity. Hear reflections from local artist Sharinna Travieso, who received a PASJ grant in 2025 for her "Bright Futures: Public Art for Growing Minds" mural project in Worcester. Attendees will also hear more about PASJ from NEFA staff and have time to ask questions.

Sharinna Travieso is a self-taught artist, muralist, and community organizer based in Worcester, MA. Her work focuses on community, connection, environmental sustainability, and creating public art that reflects the stories and experiences of local residents. Through murals, installations, workshops, and community engagement projects, she uses art as a tool to spark conversation and create positive change.
