Building upon a series of free public performances, the Makanda Project is expanding to create free music and art events. These events involve live painting sponsored by MassArt’s sparc! the ArtMobile, and performances by youth music, dance, and theater groups.

The Makanda Project brings you jazz from some of Boston’s most renowned jazz musicians. The group, formed in 2005, performs its own arrangements of previously unheard compositions by Boston-born Makanda Ken McIntyre (1931-2011).
