Contract Role: 50th Anniversary Event Producer

Scope of Work

NEFA seeks an experienced Event Producer to work closely with NEFA’s Development department and Executive Director to plan and host a 50th anniversary celebration on June 3, 2027 that will achieve fundraising, network-building, and celebration goals. This role will manage the logistics of event planning and serve as point person for vendors. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with NEFA to define the overall look, feel, and vision of the event 
  • Work with NEFA’s Development department and Executive Director to ensure event logistics serve event goals including celebration, network-building, and fundraising 
  • Ensure the event aligns with NEFA’s organizational values 
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all logistics related to the event 
  • Liaise with event vendors including venue, caterers, photographers, and others 
  • Create a preliminary run-of-show, including performances and programming 
  • Book entertainment; coordinate performance/tech needs between artists and venue 
  • Work with NEFA staff, artists, and the venue to ensure accessibility needs are appropriately met 
  • Monitor spending and provide regular budget updates to Senior Development Director

Strong candidates will have the following skills/experience

  • Experience producing events of a similar scale (approximately 250 attendees; $200,000 budget) 
  • Experience working with small-midsize nonprofit organizations 
  • Experience working in the Boston event and entertainment industry; existing relationships with local vendors a plus 
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders including NEFA staff, event committee members, vendors, and artists 
  • Experience managing events with multiple goals (ie. Celebration, fundraising, network-building, donor cultivation) 
  • Available to travel locally within Boston to attend in-person site visits and meetings regularly 

Contract Term and Compensation

This role will work with NEFA from date of hire (anticipated October/November 2026) through June 2027 (including the event on June 3 and post-event follow-up). Total compensation will be $50,000. Contractor and NEFA will work together to determine schedule based on needs and availability.
