David Dorfman Dance

David Dorfman Dance’s newest work The Front Line examines the state of democracy in this country today. Set in a middle school gymnasium turned polling site for an imagined Election Day 2040, the movement, song and words of DDD dancers portraying poll workers interact with those of community cast members embodying the role of voters/campaigners. Together, cast and audience unravel the hopeful act of voting amid deep disillusionment, anger, and division. By reframing community building and dreaming as vital political acts, The Front Line blends sober reflection with joyous celebration to interrogate what it truly means to participate in America. The Front Line is intended for audiences of all ages, serving as a dialogue/invitation to a more connected and aware world, and seeking to foster a more engaged and enthusiastic citizenry. A party for democracy, if you will!
