NEFA is happy to share that Women of Color in the Arts (WOCA) has awarded senior program director, theater, Quita Sullivan (Montaukett/Shinnecock) a grant from its sabbatical fund to support a paid six-month sabbatical, after which Quita will resume their role at NEFA on November 2, 2026.
The WOCA Sabbatical Fund was created to help combat the enduring burnout that women leaders of color disproportionately experience. The fund provides a six-month paid period of rest for recipients with no expectations of labor or to produce “work” and includes coaching, wellness resources, and community-building opportunities.
“I am extremely grateful to be working at an organization that supports rest and personal growth. This would not be possible without the Women of Color in the Arts sabbatical fund and the wholehearted support of NEFA,” shared Quita. “I look forward to returning rested and with new energy for the work ahead.”
“WOCA’s Sabbatical Fund is an essential opportunity to strengthen the cultural sector, and NEFA is honored to support Quita in this important opportunity,” said NEFA executive director, Harold Steward.
