NEFA appoints new Theater Manager

Rebecca Blunk, executive director of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), announced that Quita Sullivan has joined the organization as the program manager for the National Theater Pilot.

With degrees in Theater from Knox College and SUNY Stony Brook and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School, Ms. Sullivan has held positions in arts management and environmental justice, leading her to a Diversity Fellowship at Associated Grant Makers in Boston.  A member of the Montaukett Tribe of New York and an avid beadworker, she has served on several panels for NEFA’s Native Arts grant program.  “We are so happy to welcome Quita to the NEFA staff,” said NEFA program director Jane Preston.  “Her demonstrated leadership and roots in theater make her a great asset to developing this exciting new pilot program.”

The National Theater pilot explores creating a system of support for artist-led collaborative theater works.  Modeled after NEFA’s National Dance Project, and with funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the theater pilot will fund 12 projects to test assumptions about theater development and touring in the U.S.  The deadline for the first round of projects is September 1, 2010.
