(Boston, MA) The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) is pleased to announce that Joaquin Irigoyen has joined the organization as communications and program coordinator.
In this new role, Joaquin provides administrative and technical support to NEFA’s communications and Program teams. As a key member of the communications team, Joaquin maintains and updates NEFA’s mailing list, image library, press clips tracker, and communications archive. Joaquin assists with the distribution of news across NEFA’s social media, partners on branding and design, and ensures clear internal communication. As a member of the Programs team, Joaquin maintains grant records, tests grant forms, processes grantee reports, provides technical assistance to applicants, and provides administrative assistance to ensure accuracy of data. The communications and program coordinator is a key contributor in promoting and enhancing NEFA’s commitments to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in public messaging and grantmaking practices.
Joaquin brings significant administrative experience to this new role. He first joined NEFA in February 2025 as an operations intern. In this capacity, Joaquin contributed to projects in every department at NEFA, becoming deeply familiar with NEFA’s systems and teams. Prior administrative roles include Maverik Landing Community Services and his alma mater, Emerson College. Joaquin also serves on the board of Orkest, where he is co-chair of marketing and social media. Joaquin holds a BA in Visual and Media Arts Production from Emerson College, and has produced and co-written several film projects, with one currently in post-production.
“Since his first weeks at NEFA, Joaquin has shown up as an enthusiastic, curious, and solutions-oriented team member. His thoughtful approach to administrative and creative projects, working collaboratively across teams, has benefited the whole organization. I’m excited to support his continued growth at NEFA,” said Steven Fenton, NEFA’s Chief Operations Officer.
The New England Foundation for the Arts invests in artists and communities, fostering equitable access to the arts and enriching the cultural landscape in New England and across the United States. Founded in 1976, NEFA has grown into a vital national and international leader, advancing opportunities for artists and strengthening the arts infrastructure through grantmaking, partnerships, convenings, and knowledge sharing.
NEFA’s work is made possible through generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the six New England state arts agencies, private foundations, corporations, and individual donors. As NEFA approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026, it continues to lead with creativity, resilience, and vision, affirming the vital role of the arts in civic life and advancing a cultural landscape where all people have equitable access to artistic expression. www.nefa.org.
