Sumner McClain's stories focus on celebrating life. Sumner strongly believe that through the art of storytelling, poetry, music and movement we are awakened to the valuable stories of our past and present, creating a tremendous potential for wholeness, and making the world a better place for everyone. Sumner will be invited to perform at RIBS annual FUNDA Fest, held in January 2024. If scheduling does not fit for Sumner, RIBS will work to bring him to Rhode Island for a special event.

African storytellers had the responsibility of passing down stories of history and culture. Modern storytellers continue this tradition, nurturing a sense of community through storytelling. The stories told included personal histories, folktales, legends, and present religious themes. Sumner's motivational, family friendly, multicultural and cross generational stories break down barriers and and build bridges. Non-Black people say they’ve learned of the strength of Black despite the injustices.
