As part of a multi-year, multi-residency, partnership with MASS MoCA, Urban Bush Women’s sprawling site-specific multidisciplinary dance work Haint Blu ran from April 19th through April April 22nd. Beginning at MASS MoCA’s loading dock and running throughout the museum’s campus, Haint Blu
interrogates how we tell and reclaim black history, using dance, music, spoken word, installation, and storytelling to create a site of healing.

Here at MASS MoCA Haint Blu occurred across our entire campus, inside galleries, outside in the courtyards and in behind the scene spaces for an intimate audience experience. There was also an invited dress rehearsal. In addition, there were dinners with community members. In past years there were work-in-progress showings of the performance done at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Gallery 51 and at the Williams College Museum of Art.
