Katie Pustizzi seeks funding for future Liquid Spine films and projects. Katie seeks to return to Augusta, Sicily, the land of her grandparents, to create a Liquid Spine film that unearths and exposes the pollution of mercury into the Mediterranean Sea from a massive, leaking petrochemical complex, which is linked to the city’s current cancer epidemic. She is also in conversation with Carmen Lucia Lincoln, a Mexican Activist and Dancer, to realize a Liquid Spine film in Akumal, Mexico. This dance film will illuminate the destruction of the cenotes due to a new train system that threatens the region's natural ecosystems as well as the sacred waters of the Mayan people. Lastly, Katie seeks to make her Liquid Spine work more visible to the Massachusetts community via Global Water Dances (GWD). GWD uses the international languages of dance and film to promote awareness and a behavioral shift toward solutions for water preservation and conservation through community engagement.
