Beginning October 9th, the Everson will welcome Los Angeles-based hip-hop dance troupe Versa-Style to Syracuse for a week-long artist residency. This group of diverse and highly skilled street dance artists will use their energy and expertise to create powerful performances that promote, empower, and celebrate the artistry of hip-hop and street dance culture. The troupe will engage approximately 2,000 students through performances that promote community pride, self-expression, and teamwork; host a family-friendly workshop at part of Everson’s Free Community Day; and welcome audiences to a ticketed ninety-minute performance of FREE-style FREE-mind in the Museum’s 300-seat Auditorium. These events will attract dance enthusiasts from around the region, enthrall and engage audiences who might have little experience with hip-hop music and culture, welcome new audiences to the Museum, and pave the way for more opportunities to welcome diverse, world-class entertainment to the Everson.
