Project Title
Ancestral Body
Fiscal Year Awarded
2022
Grant or Program
New Work New England
Grant Amount
$8,900

Ancestral Body is a multidisciplinary solo performance project exploring my relationship to ancestral Indigenous knowledge from Africa, and how I hold that knowledge in my body. As I embark on a complex journey to decolonize myself, I know this process will surely pass through the mind, but it must also pass through my body and my spirit. Breaking away from Eurocentric modes of knowledge and aesthetics, this project looks to define news ways of being in this present, informed by a rich past bursting with ancestral and Indigenous knowledge.
