The Letting the Land Lead Retreat is a three-day event in which people who are interested in the movement and meditation practice behind the LTLL performance series can experience it for themselves on a working plot of conservation land. During the three days, I will be teaching somatic awareness practices that will lead into movement creation in connection with the self and the land. We will set dance phrases and as a group we will create a dance together to be filmed for online release.
This first iteration is an opportunity to test the structure of the retreat and to receive feedback from participants. Though I have taught this practice as a workshop a number of times over the last three years, the process of setting up this retreat will allow me to begin codifying the method of this work and to practice training others to experience dance and meditation with the land in this way. This, in turn, will help Letting the Land Lead to expand with more opportunities for dance making.
