‘What Remains: A Choreography of Microplastics' is a new evening-length work by Boston Dance Theater that uses dance, sculpture, sound, and science to address the global crisis of microplastic pollution. Created by BDT’s Co-Director Jessie Jeanne Stinnett in collaboration with sculptor Kim Radochia and oceanographer Dr. Larry Pratt (WHOI), the project centers artists as leaders, transforming scientific research into an imaginative, embodied experience. Over 18–24 months, the work will develop through a creation residency, premiere, and a New England tour to science centers, museums, and community venues. Each phase includes workshops, dialogues, and site-adapted performances designed to expand equitable access to the arts, engage diverse audiences, and build shared knowledge about ocean health. By amplifying artistic voices and forging cross-sector partnerships, the project nurtures civic imagination and invites collective action for a more just and sustainable future.
