ASU Gammage will present contemporary dance icon Eiko Otake and artistic collaborators on September 10, 2022, in The Duets Project: Distance is Malleable. Ms. Otake and artistic collaborators will conduct residency activities on and off ASU campuses from September 5 - 9, 2022. The presentation and residency will center on Ms. Otake's project concept of difference as an engine for inquiry which will include exploring the application of difference in the areas of esthetic growth, cultural fluency, community building, artist role in society, conflict, and the language of contemporary dance and cross-disciplinary artists as a catalyst for all of the above. We are in initial discussions with multiple on and off entities; ASU Watts College of Public Services, Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, local poetry/spoken word community, ASU School of Dance, and Arizona Dance Coalition.
