ALL PGMS: SAMPLE TEXT

WORK SAMPLES
Click NEW and follow the instructions to add links to your work samples.

VIDEO Work Sample Guidelines:

  • Applicants may submit one five-minute work sample.
  • NEFA recommends submitting a work sample that contains at least one continuous two to five-minute section from a single work. If you wish the panel to see multiple works or multiple sections of one work, the individual sections should be at least one minute each and should utilize original audio, if available. Please limit the number of clips to three or fewer.
  • When possible, submit samples of the actual work named in the application or, if this is not possible, submit work that is similar (i.e. a multi-disciplinary work sample for an application proposing a multi-disciplinary work, a site-specific work sample for an application proposing a site-specific work, etc.). If neither is possible, please explain how the submitted work sample relates to the proposed project in the Work Sample Description section below.
  • Work samples should be of recent work (i.e. within the last four years).
  • NEFA strongly prefers that applicants send prepared work samples (i.e. one file with only the five minutes to be shown to the panel). If this is not possible, please clearly indicate cue times in the Work Sample Cue Times section below.
  • Promotional videos and/or video montages will not be accepted.

IMAGE Work Sample Guidelines:
NEFA recommends submitting images of art work that are *related to your project*. Please send only hi-res images (300 dpi). These may be uploaded as attachments.

AUDIO Work Sample Guidelines:
Please submit up to three tracks that best represent the artist work.

AUDIO Instructions:
Use the url fields below to link to your audio files saved online. (e.g. uploaded to a personal website or audio sharing website like SoundCloud.)

NDP PRODUCTION GRANT

TAB 1

PRIMARY PRESENTER PARTNER

All Production Grant applicants must list at least one presenter partner -- a U.S. based nonprofit presenting organization that supports the development and/or touring of the proposed project. Examples of support a presenter partner may provide include, but are not limited to:

  • commissioning fees
  • residency space
  • audience for work-in progress showings
  • administrative guidance or support
  • marketplace advocacy
  • tour planning assistance
  • leveraging additional funds for the project

Note: Additional presenter partners may be added on the 'Additional Information' tab of this application.

POTENTIAL TOUR SITES

To demonstrate the project's potential to tour, we ask applicants to name three nonprofit presenting organizations that have expressed interest in presenting the proposed project on tour. Though no formal documentation of the presenter's commitment is required for this application, NEFA asks that the applicant has received permission from the presenter to be listed on the application.

Note: The presenter partner listed above may also be listed as one of the tour sites below. Additional tour sites may be entered on the 'Additional Information' page of this application.

NARRATIVE INFORMATION

Describe the proposed work and the proposed process and timeline for development. Note the current status (i.e. projected, committed…) of the work’s proposed collaborators.

Address the ‘tourability’ of the work in terms of scale (large/small, traditional/non-traditional venues), company size, other requirements, estimated presenter fee range, and your strategy for touring this work nationally.

Describe the work’s potential to engage audiences and any live or virtual strategies that will be used during the development and/or touring of the work to connect the artist and the public.

In what ways will the presenter partner(s)* named in your application support the development and/or touring of the work?

**Responses to the following questions will not affect your Production Grant application.**

PRD grants support the refinement of new dance projects in later stages of development in order to produce works that are more fully realized and ready to tour. PRD grants may be used to support production residencies where artists, in collaboration with residency partners, can receive access to technical facilities and staff and gain significant artistic, directorial, and/or dramaturgical input. Production residencies should take place prior to the work's premiere or post-premiere and prior to its tour.

For the purposes of PRD funding, production residencies should:

  • Make a significant impact on the refinement of the new work during the later stages of its development
  • Be part of a coherent developmental process that aims toward a premiere-ready and/or tour-ready work
  • Reflect a strong relationship and/or level of investment between the artist and residency partner
  • Enable the artist to focus primarily on the new work rather than teaching or conducting other outreach activities unconnected to the development of the work
  • Preferably be at least one week or more in length.

How would you foresee utilizing a production residency in order to ready the work for either its premiere or its tour? What would you expect to learn or get out of the production residency?

How would you foresee utilizing a production residency in order to ready the work for either its premiere or its tour? What specific elements of the creation and/or touring of your project would a production residency allow you to address?
