NEFA Appoints New Creative Economy Program Officer

(Boston, MA) The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) is pleased to announce that Sharon Amuguni has joined the organization in the role of program officer for NEFA’s Creative Economy program.

In this role, Sharon will work closely with users, partners, and champions of CreativeGround.org, NEFA’s directory that celebrates New England’s artists, creatives, culture bearers, arts and culture organizations and creative businesses. She will engage with community leaders and drive communications and promotional efforts, helping to enhance the reach of NEFA’s programs and services and build the New England Creative Economy Network. Prior to joining NEFA, Sharon held multiple roles in the City of Boston’s Artist in Residency (AIR) program; as program manager, she collaborated on the structure and design of the program, managed the daily operations, and strengthened and fostered relationships among artists, city agencies, and related groups. An earlier role as program assistant for Mass Poetry included managing the Poet in the Spotlight program, creating their newsletter, and growing digital engagement.

“We are excited to have Sharon on our team; she will play a critical role growing and deepening the visibility and connectivity of New England’s creative sector, particularly at this juncture with the recent public relaunch and rebranding of CreativeGround,” said Dee Schneidman, senior program director for research and creative economy.

Sharon holds a master's in Civic Media Art and Practice from Emerson College and a bachelor's in Communications, Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  She currently resides in Worcester, MA, where she grew up.
