SPACE

SPACE seeks NEST funding to host Jesse Hawley and James Stanley's project Clever and Vainglorious Kings: Extended Play, a performance-based transmedia art project. The full body of their work consists of a full album of recorded music by the fake band, a faux-historical essay, various material and digital artifacts, and is activated by live performances as the band. The performance builds the mythology of a short-lived 80s post-punk/New Wave band that disappeared in 1986 only to be “summoned” back into existence by current geopolitical circumstances. In their current theatrical concert/tour, the fake band CVK presents synth-pop staging of the myths of Artemis and Apollo. As an active touring music venue, SPACE is excited to bring a conceptual and humorous project that reflects on the cult of music personalities, mythos of music history, and creation of stage personas. SPACE will host the performance in August and collaborate with the artists/partners on the ongoing band backstory.
