Puppet Showplace Theater will present "We Love Trees," a three-part production by Great Small Works, in June, 2023. Dedicated to a tree in East Somerville that once stood on land owned by a family of early-20th-century musicians, "We Love Trees" celebrates the intimate, but often overlooked, relationships between people and the trees that live nearby. IGreat Small Works is renowned for its lively, contemporary approach to low-tech and vintage forms of puppetry, and has been instrumental in the revitalization of toy theater for artists of all disciplines in recent years. During their engagement with Puppet Showplace, they will present three short-form pieces in this style: the titular "We Love Trees" for all audiences, "Lyzer the Miser" for family audiences, and “Living Newspaper: Sidewalk Ballet” for adult and teen audiences. The music of Tin Pan Alley will round out each lineup, offering a multi-layered experience to audiences of all ages.
