Blues to Green

In February 2021, Felipe Salles and the Interconnections Ensemble will perform a virtual concert of The New Immigrant Experience at the Academy of Music Theater. With live music and video projections, it explores the stories and struggles of nine diverse “Dreamers,” undocumented immigrants protected by DACA. In a panel discussion beforehand, the composer and several featured Dreamers will provide context and answer audience questions. In an area with many immigrants of color segregated from white residents who may judge them, this event uses world-class music to help immigrants feel heard and non-immigrants understand and feel compassion for the undocumented immigrant experience.
